The win over Juventus is a turning point for Inter like the win over Napoli in November in Serie A, Italian media suggest

Inter appear to have kicked off their season with a crucial win over Juventus last week, at a time that seems to parallel their Serie A win over Napoli in November.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which suggests the two wins look like turning points in the Nerazzurri’s season and in the context of their quest for the Scudetto.

Inter had fallen behind AC Milan and Napoli before the international break in November, but they have returned in blistering form.

Their first game back from this break was a head-to-head clash with the Partenopei, and they won 3-2 to kick off an eight-league winning streak that saw them rise to a dominant position atop the table. .

That advantage faded in February and March, however, when a bitter 2-1 loss to the Rossoneri in the derby on the return from January’s international break ushered in the Nerazzurri’s worst run of the entire season.

Having picked up just seven points from seven matches before the international break in March, the Nerazzurri were desperate to make a statement on their return from the break as they now had some ground to make up for.

That statement came in the form of a 1-0 away win over the Bianconeri, the team’s first away victory in the Derby D’Italia in nearly a decade.

That result, however, would have meant little had it not ushered in a wider return to form in the crucial final games of the season.

Based on the evidence from last night’s comfortable win over Hellas Verona, that return to form has indeed taken place within Inter, and for Corriere the similarity to the declared victory over Napoli in November is clear.
