The IACC hosts a lunch for the chef of the Italian Guardia di Finanza

WASHINGTON, October 5, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Today, the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) hosted a testimonial lunch in honor of Giuseppe Zafarana, general commander of the Italian Guardia di Finanza (GdF). Lunch was preceded by a reception the day before hosted by the Ambassador of Italy, Mariangela Zappia, in the presence of the President of the IACC Bob barchiesi. The reception and lunch recognized Zafarana’s leadership within the leading law enforcement agency in Italy responsible for the fight against counterfeits. During the event, the IACC and GoF discussed the extension of the IACC law enforcement training application to the 70,000 GoF employees nationwide, providing information important and brand contacts to improve brand protection actions.

The IACC and the GoF have built a strong partnership since their first joint IP training program in 2015 in which more than 700 law enforcement and cadets in Rome and Bari, Italy participated. The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding in 2016 and have cooperated on programs to facilitate increased communication between law enforcement and the private sector.
The GoF is a militarized police force reporting to the Ministry of the Economy and Finance responsible for cracking down on financial and economic crimes. In addition to intellectual property crimes, the GoF fights other crimes, including tax evasion, fraud and corruption.
The luminaries present at the lunch included Brigadier General Salvatore Russo of the GoF; Tom Homan, former acting director of the ICE; Derek benner, former executive director of homeland security investigations (HSI); Brad Buckles, EVP, RIAA and former director of ATF; and Steve Francois, Acting Deputy Executive Director for HSI.
