The Americano brings Italian food and cocktails to the Coco Republic table
What could be more indulgent than browsing the magnificent new Coco Republic showroom in the middle of Civic?
How about sitting upstairs in the store’s Italian Riviera style restaurant The Americano and order a cocktail to help you choose the marble coffee table you just can’t live without?
The Americano opened its doors this week after the highly anticipated opening last week of the luxurious Coco Republic showroom. It offers an Espresso Bar menu, Campari Bar and a modern Italian trattoria menu at the lively Bunda Street spot in the Canberra Center design district.
Located just above the expansive furniture and lifestyle showroom, the restaurant and bar will operate for lunch seven days a week and for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
While a number of Coco Republic stores nationwide have their own L’Americano locations to enhance the shopping experience, the Canberra location is the first of its kind within the group to offer a more restaurant menu. serious and sophisticated – making it a place to sit for a coffee before tackling sofa decisions, a stylish space for a corporate lunch, or just a place to host a lovely Italian meal with friends or with family.
With the lockdown over and the warm weather here to stay, The American also promises to be a convenient place to spend an afternoon, even if decorating the house is not on the cards.
With seating both indoors, at the bar, or alfresco, the menu caters to all tastes, offering everything from shared antipasto deals to linguine with shrimp. Notable dishes include the Tajima Wagyu flat iron steak with porcini butter and broccolini, and the wood-roasted chicken with nduja butter and peas.
The venue will also offer friendly competition for downtown bars, offering an extensive wine list that blends hand-picked Italian grape varieties with top Australian labels.
With interiors inspired by the iconic 90s film, The talented Mr. Ripley, The Americano exudes a playfulness that shouts “give me the cocktail menu.” And what a menu it turns out to be.
From this point on, it becomes very difficult to decide not only which coffee table to invest in, but also to order The Botanist – a heady blend of Organic Antipodes gin, St Germain elderflower, tonic, lemon, rosemary. , star anise – or Italica, which combines Italicus Rosolio Di Bergamotto liqueur with Ketel One grapefruit and rose vodka, grapefruit, soda and star anise.
And you thought the sofa colors were difficult.
