“Others continue to take advantage of my name”

Those who love movies surely rush to see the new movie, Still water. The thriller stars Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, and Deanna Dunagan, among others. Tom McCarthy co-wrote and directed the film, and it received rave reviews. As many people already know well, Still water is based on a true story – a story that caught the attention of millions of people and was also heartbreaking at the same time. Now Amanda Knox, who has been in the spotlight since unfortunate incidents occurred in Italy, is not impressed with Still water, saying, “Others continue to take advantage of my name. “

Many people know Amanda Knox’s name – she is an American woman who was studying abroad in Perugia, Italy, when one of her roommates was brutally murdered. Knox ended up being wrongly convicted of the crime and spent four years in an Italian prison before finally being acquitted. Since his release from prison and his return to the United States, Knox has written several books and made a documentary on his history.

Now, Still water has been released, and fans can’t help but notice how the film’s premise is eerily similar to what Knox herself went through. According to Vox, the plot of the film revolves around a father whose daughter is in Europe and has sadly been charged with the murder of another girl her age – a crime she insists is innocent of. Knox is not at all involved in the making of the film. While the film seems to focus more on showing a father desperately trying to exonerate his falsely accused daughter, it’s hard to ignore that the details are comparable to Knox’s own case.

What did Amanda say about the movie?

One of the most striking things, at least from Knox’s perspective, is that she didn’t know anything about the film during production, as she told Variety. In fact, she found out like anyone else – when the trailer came out. It’s hard to imagine how shocked she must have been, especially when she’s been through the unthinkable and probably wants to forget everything.

So what did she say about the film? In one Twitter feed extended, Knox wrote, “Is my name mine?” My face? What about my life? My story? Why does my name refer to events I haven’t attended? I come back to these questions because others continue to take advantage of my name, face and story without my consent.

She went on to explain that Still water “Refers to the events that resulted from the murder of Meredith Kercher by a burglar named Rudy Guede. It refers to shoddy police work, prosecutors’ tunnel vision and refusal to admit their mistakes that led the Italian authorities to wrongly convict me, twice. She added:

“I was not allowed to return to the relative anonymity I had before Perugia. My only option is to sit idly by while others continue to distort my character. “

What can viewers expect from the film?

What does the movie star herself have to say about the movie? According to Variety, Damon insists this is not a political film. The actor went on to say he was attracted to Still water because it “shakes up expectations”. WBur reports that Damon worked hard to get into the role of Oklahoma’s dad; he even spent time there talking to the workers at the oil rig to prepare for the role.

Still water is now playing in theaters.
