Roma manager linked to Leeds

Leeds United have contacted Roma manager Paulo Fonseca with a view to making him Marcelo Bielsa’s successor should the Argentine leave Elland Road, according to an Italian journalist.

Gianluigi Longari of Sportitalia said the Whites were one of many clubs to tentatively learn about the exiting Rome boss.

Napoli, Crystal Palace and Nice are also credited with an interest in the 48-year-old, who was largely ignored as a player but who went on to coach Porto, Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk before arriving in the Italian capital.

Andrea Radrizzani recently spoke of his high hopes of securing a deal with Bielsa before the end of the current West Yorkshire campaign.

Lineker digs up Alioski after Leeds United defeat to Brighton

Gary Lineker was taken aback by what Ezgjan Alioski did to concede a penalty for Leeds United’s 2-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Whites fell behind after 15 minutes thanks to a Pascal Gross penalty after Alioski awkwardly dragged Danny Welbeck to the ground after a brutal tackle.

Alioski was substituted at half time following his first half performance which saw Brighton target him as a weakness on the left side of the defense.
