Joe Cole has told Romelu Lukaku to forget about Italy and urged the £97.5million to focus on becoming a Chelsea legend amid the Belgian’s tumultuous first season at Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku, 28, registered just seven touches for the Blues in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, the lowest tally by any Premier League player since records began.
As a result, the Belgian’s performances came under scrutiny and Tuchel took his striker out of the firing line for tonight’s Champions League clash with Lille.

Lukaku has started brilliantly at Stamford Bridge since returning from Inter Milan in the summer, but an interview with Italian media in which he admitted he is keen to return to the club has angered fans.
Now former Chelsea star Cole has implored Lukaku to stop ‘desiring’ Inter and put all his energy into becoming a Blues legend.
“It was ill-advised, how it happened,” Cole said of the saga on BT Sport. “I think Tuchel handled it brilliantly, he went to bed.
“I think with Romelu it’s all between his ears. He is in the situation he is in, he cannot dream of being back in Italy. He is lucky here to be Chelsea’s No. 9, he is lucky to walk in the shoes of Didier Drogba, his hero, the great No. 9s we have seen in this club.

“He has to put everything to bed, ignore all the noise and focus on his game. We’ve seen him score all types of goals, he’s the complete striker when he’s right.
Lukaku’s poor form has sparked a debate over whether he receives quality service from his teammates. Cole insisted the Belgian could do more to put himself in goal-scoring chances.
‘Is this service? Is it the races? It’s a bit of both,” he added. ‘This needs to be fixed. With the attackers, even if the ball is not good, you have to be there, so you can watch yourself.
“He has to make sure he’s in the right position every time and if the ball doesn’t come, start over and over and he’ll get there eventually.”
