Italian media suggest midfielder Nicolo Barella was Inter’s best player against Crotone

Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella stood out as the best player on the pitch in Inter’s 2-0 win over Crotone yesterday, according to Italian media.

The Nerazzurri moved one point behind the Scudetto as they sentenced their hosts to relegation to Stadio Ezio Scida, thanks to second-half goals from Christian Eriksen and Achraf Hakimi.

As reported in today’s Corriere della Sera diary edition, Barella had Inter ticked off and scored 7.5 in their player ratings, the highest rating among Nerazzurri players.

The former Cagliari midfielder has been praised for overcoming a nervous start to dictate play down the middle and provide dangerous passes for his teammates, while staying strong in the tackle.

Scorer Eriksen rolled a 7 after coming off the bench to return the opener, while the rest of the squad rolled a 6 or 6.5 apart from Matteo Darmian.

The winger disappointed after being named in the starting lineup and got the lowest score at 5.5, after being retired in the second half.

Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte, meanwhile, received a 7 after impacting the game and the season as a whole, with the tactician leaving nothing to chance and now ready to be awarded the Scudetto.
