Inter target Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi if Stefan De Vrij leaves club, Italian media report

Inter are considering a move for Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi next summer, but likely only if Stefan de Vrij leaves the club.

This according to the Italian media FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are targeting the 21-year-old to supplement their defensive options in case de Vrij is sold.

Parisi has impressed with his performances on the left for newly promoted Empoli this season, which has earned him the attention of the Nerazzurri who see him as a potential long-term successor to Ivan Perisic if the Croatian leaves next summer.

Right now, Federico Dimarco is also a player who can substitute on the left and could be one of the options to succeed Perisic on a permanent basis.

However, the 24-year-old has also been used regularly on the left side of a third season, and that could become his starring role in the future.

Stefan de Vrij’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and if the club fail to strike a deal with the 29-year-old, he could be sold next summer.

In this case, Alessandro Bastoni would likely be moved from the left of the defense to the middle, meaning that the left role would be given to Dimarco as the holder.

If that were to happen, the Nerazzurri could look to Parisi to consolidate options capable of operating in the left-winger role next summer.
