Inter still determined to extend Ivan Perisic’s contract despite Robin Gosens’ arrival, according to Italian media

Inter are still aiming to agree a contract extension for winger Ivan Perisic this summer despite the arrival of Robin Gosens to compete in his role.

This according to today’s print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which report that the Nerazzurri still want to extend the Croatian’s deal as he is an important player in the team.

Perisic’s current deal is due to expire at the end of June but the club are still hopeful they can convince him to stay after that time, with his excellent performance against AC Milan yesterday once again underlining his continued value to the team.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed yesterday that the club don’t believe signing Gosens from Atalanta will change anything about Perisic’s situation.

Gosens arrives to strengthen the left side of the team for the coming seasons, but for the immediate future the Nerazzurri still hope to continue with Perisic.

The club aim to start talks soon and will make a renewal offer to Perisic, albeit on somewhat reduced terms compared to his current deal.

The 33-year-old could be looking for a new challenge before his career ends but if he doesn’t receive any significant offers he might decide to accept a new contract with the Nerazzurri.
