Renowned San Antonio restaurateur Peter Selig (Ácenar, Biga on the Banks, Maverick Texas Brasserie) is set to open two new restaurants in the Pearl region focused on high-end Italian cuisine and fast-casual later this year.

Public records on April 15 with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate that a $ 1 million, 4,098 square foot project dubbed Allora will be housed in the new Credit Human Tower on Broadway, and a $ 600,000, 2,267 project. square feet called Arrosta. will be located in the neighboring Oxbow building.

A spokesperson for Selig’s Maverick Restaurant Group confirmed the upcoming restaurants in a brief statement emailed to Express-News. Allora means “then” in Italian. The statement said it will be a full-service Italian restaurant and Arrosta, which means “roast” in Italian, will focus on quick, casual meals and take-out.

While the statement did not confirm any other restaurant details, Allora appears to be a homecoming opportunity for celebrity San Antonio chef Robbie Nowlin, who ran the Texas Bistro and Zinc Bistro & Bar in Boudro before. to leave town briefly for other restaurant jobs in 2017.

Nowlin was briefly identified as Allora’s chef in a Facebook post from Jason Dady announcing a celebrity chef’s dinner in March. This message was then modified to remove the reference to Allora. Over the past few weeks, however, Nowlin has posted several images of pasta and pasta dishes to his Instagram account (@chef_driven) using the hashtag #allora.

The construction start date is scheduled for May 17 with a completion date of October 12 of this year for both projects according to the TDLR files.
